Asian herbal remedies are well-known worldwide, as native cultures in this region of the world have pioneered many different uses for plants and botanicals. From tea and culinary preparations, to traditional Asian medicine, and even bonsai, Asian herbs and botanicals are many and varied. Kratom (mitragyna speciosa) is native to Southeast Asia, where this plant has evolved into three different varieties and dozens of unique kratom strains. There’s also sakae naa (combretum quadrangulare), kava kava and mitragyna hirsuta, which is a cousin of the kratom plant. Collectively, these Asian herbs and botanicals have been the subject of significant research and in recent years, they have seen a rising popularity in Western cultures.
